If there’s any work of God that should characterize every person’s conversion, it should be the destruction of that person’s pride. We’re proud by nature and God has to break our pride in saving us. And not only at conversion, but also in the Christian life as a whole, and especially in preparation for ministry. The last person the Church needs in ministry is a person with pride.
